Equine Assisted Counselling Program

Description of Program

Our 10-week equine-assisted counseling program uses a 1.5-hour session format, Participants will be divided into age-appropriate groups. Each participant will work with their assigned horse/pony throughout the program. The program will take place at Millshaw Meadows Equestrian Centre in Mill Bay, BC, and will be led by two equine specialists, a registered clinical counselor, and an approved volunteer. The goal is to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for clients to work towards healing from trauma.

Equipment/Clothing

Participants must wear appropriate footwear (shoe or boot with heel) and clothing (long pants) during the program. All necessary tack and equipment, including riding helmets, will be provided.

Insurance

Insurance is mandatory for all participants and will be provided through the Horse Council of B.C. with written permission from a legal guardian. The cost of insurance is included in the program fee and will be applied by program coordinators.

Schedule of Group(s)

The group will occur in the mornings (days and time to be determined) between January and March, April and June, and October and December. Specific days and dates will be determined as needed. Waitlist currently being created for program.

with a maximum of 4 kids per group and a minimum of 3 kids per group.
